Our BetterTV includes a mobile application that ensures you never miss a thing, you can watch stream and cast your favourite shows from your fingertips.

What is casting?

Casting lets you send shows or live channels from your phone straight to your TV. Just tap the cast icon (top-right corner of the app)—it turns white when it's connected. Pick your show or channel, hit play, and watch it on the big screen.

Note: To watch Freeview live channels, you'll need an aerial connected to your BetterTV box.

How do I set up casting?

1. Download the BetterTV app and pair it with your TV box
2. Tap the cast icon and choose your set-top box from the list
3. Once connected, find the show or app you want to cast and tap play
4. That's it—your content will start playing on your TV!

How do I use the BetterTV app to control casting?

The BetterTV app has a built-in remote that works just like your physical remote.

Here's how to find it:

1. Open the BetterTV app on your phone
2. Tap the cast icon in the top-right corner
3. Select your BetterTV device from the list
4. Choose Remote Control

You'll now see a virtual remote on your screen with all the same buttons—change channels, adjust volume, and navigate menus just like your regular remote.

Which apps can I cast from?

You can cast from these apps:

• Amazon
• Rakuten
• YouTube
• Wedotv
• Acorn TV
• BritBox

BBC iPlayer: You can't watch iPlayer content directly in the app, but you can cast it to your TV. If you try to watch in-app, you'll see an error message.

Can I cast IP channels?

Yes! IP channels (830–999) stream over your internet connection and can be cast directly from the BetterTV app. You can even cast them to TVs with built-in Chromecast.

Note: If you're casting to a TV with built-in Chromecast, only IP channels will work - not Freeview channels or other apps.

Can I cast Freeview channels?

Yes, you can cast Freeview channels from your BetterTV app to your BetterTV box. You can't watch Freeview channels directly on the app itself, but you can browse the TV guide on your phone to decide what you want to cast to your TV.
