  • Connect to the internet—either with an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi
  • Plug in the power cable and turn on the box using your remote
  • Make sure your TV is on the right HDMI input- you'll see the welcome screen

Step 2: Follow the on-screen setup

Your BetterTV will guide you through:

  • Language selection
  • Network connection
  • Software updates (if needed)
  • Channel scanning (if using aerial)

Step 3: Register your device

  • A 4-digit code will appear on your TV screen.
  • Download the BetterTV mobile app from the App Store or Google Play and enter the code to link your device.
  • That's it! You're paired and ready to watch.

Did you skip registration? No worries, you can do it any time. Just download the BetterTV mobile app and follow the on-screen steps to register and pair your box. Once you're paired, you can even use your phone as a remote control.

Switched from Wi-Fi to Wired (Ethernet) Connection

You can switch between Wi-Fi and a wired connection whenever you like.

To set up a wired connection:

  • Connect the cable to the back of your BetterTV box
  • Go to Settings > Network & Connection
  • Select Connect via Ethernet/wired connection

Our recommended internet speed for 4K streaming

To watch 4K content without buffering and for the best viewing experience, you'll need:

  • Minimum speed: 20 Mbps or higher for UHD HDR (4K) content
  • Recommended: A fibre broadband package for consistent performance

4K uses a lot more data than standard definition, so slower connections will cause buffering or reduced picture quality. Check your broadband speed to make sure you're getting what you need.
