How to set up the recording function on BetterTV

When you want to record your favourite programmes, you'll need a USB stick with 32GB-1TB storage capacity.

We recommend using a SanDisk USB stick for the best recording experience.

Setting up USB recording**

First, you'll need to format your USB (on Windows):

1. Insert your USB stick into your computer
2. Right-click the USB drive and select 'Format'
3. Choose 'NTFS' as the file system and tick 'Quick Format'
4. Click 'Start' and wait for the 'Format complete' message
5. Click 'OK' and safely remove the USB

Connect USB to your BetterTV device:

1. Insert the formatted USB into the USB port on the back of your device
2. Turn on your BetterTV device
3. Select 'Initialise' when the notification appears
4. Your USB is now ready for recording

Record a show on your BetterTV**

1. Go to your 'programme guide' on your TV
2. Find your Freeview channels you want to record
3. Then record 'episode' or 'series'

Where are the recordings saved?**

Your recordings are stored directly on your USB stick and can be found in the 'Recordings' menu on your BetterTV device.

​Important bits to note:

• Recordings can only be watched on the device where they were recorded
• Hard disk drives (HDDs) cannot be used for recording
• Make sure your USB has enough space for your recordings
