Is Your Wi-Fi Acting Up?
Work through these steps in this order - most issues are resolved quickly with these simple checks.
Quick Diagnostic: Check the Basics First
1. Is your mesh node powered on?
- Check the power switch on the back is pressed in
- Confirm the power cable is securely connected
- Make sure the wall socket is working
- Look for any lights on your mesh node
2. Check for obvious changes
- Ask yourself: "What's different since my Wi-Fi was working well?"
- Has your router or mesh node been moved?
- Are there new objects blocking the signal (metal furniture, electronics)?
- Have you added new devices to your network?
If you've identified changes, try reverting them before continuing.
3. Check signal strength
For Technicolor systems (black router with white mesh): Check the light on top of your mesh node:
- Green: Excellent signal, no action needed
- Orange: Acceptable signal, move closer to router if possible
- Red: Poor signal, definitely move mesh AP closer to router
For Icotera systems (white router and mesh): Double-press the Wi-Fi button on your mesh node side:
- Green: Excellent signal
- Blue: The signal is too strong and it can be moved further away from the router.
- Yellow: The signal is low but should be stable. Move it closer to your router if you need faster speeds.
- Purple: Poor signal, move the mesh closer to your router
For Brsk Boosters (WiFi 7 system):
- Check dashboard at http://192.168.1.1:
- Go to Wi-Fi Mesh > Overview
- Check signal quality indicators:
- Green (80-100%): Excellent
- Blue (60-79%): Good
- Yellow (40-59%): Fair - move closer if possible
- Red (Below 40%): Poor - relocate immediately
4. Reset your mesh node
Reset instructions for Technicolor mesh nodes:
- Unplug your mesh node and place it next to your main router
- Connect them with an ethernet cable (port 1 on both)
- Use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds
- Wait 5-10 minutes for reconfiguration
- When the top light turns green, disconnect the cable and move the mesh node back
- Allow 5-10 minutes for full reconnection
** For Icotera mesh nodes:**
- Unplug your mesh node and place it next to your main router
- Connect them with an ethernet cable (port 1 on both)
- Use a pen to press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds (until light turns turquoise)
- Wait 5-10 minutes for reconfiguration
- When the light turns off, disconnect cable and reposition your mesh node
- Allow 5-10 minutes for full reconnection
** For Brsk hub (Sagemcom) mesh nodes:**
- Locate the small reset button (pinhole) on your booster
- With the booster powered on, use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button
- Hold for 10 seconds until the LED turns off
- Release the button and wait for the booster to restart
- Follow the BetterWiFi setup process again from the beginning
