How you can change the settings on your PLEIO
The 'Settings' menu (the gear icon on the far-right of your home screen) is where you control everything on your PLEIO puck.
Here's what you'll find in each section:
- Network & Internet: This is where you manage your PLEIO's internet connection. You can re-connect to a new network if you move your PLEIO or change your router. You'll see all available Wi-Fi networks and can enter the password for a new one.
- Accounts and Profiles: This section manages who uses your PLEIO and which Google accounts are linked. You can add another Google account or link another Google profile to your PLEIO. This is handy if different family members want separate accounts for personalised content. You can manage existing accounts, sign out of accounts or adjust which services are linked to a specific profile.
- Apps: This menu lets you control the apps installed on your PLEIO. You can see recently opened apps - which apps have run recently. This is helpful if you need to force stop a frozen app or check which apps are using up memory.
- Adjust permissions: From the app you can control what information each app can access—like your location or microphone. It's worth reviewing these for privacy and security.
Device Preferences
This is the main section for all your PLEIO's core settings. Here's what each one does:
- About: This shows technical information about your PLEIO, including the model name, current software version (Android TV OS), and device serial number.
- Date and Time: You can adjust the time, though it's usually set automatically via the internet.
- Language: This helps you change the system language for menus, captions, and keyboard layouts.
- Keyboard: You can customise the on-screen keyboard, check for updates, and manage text input settings.
- Display and Sound: Control video output (like screen resolution), aspect ratio, and audio settings. This is where you'd switch to a soundbar or check your audio format.
- Storage: Here, you can see how much space apps and data are using. You can clear cache or uninstall large apps here to free up space.
- Google Assistant: Manage Google's voice search function—turn it on or off and clear its search history.
- Google Cast: Manage the built-in Chromecast function. Make sure it's turned on if you want to cast content from your phone or tablet.
- Power Management: Control sleep timers and power-saving modes.
- Location: Manage location services used by apps, like weather apps or regional content providers like Freely.
- Mic and Camera: Control which apps can access connected microphones or cameras. Useful for keeping things private.
- Usage Diagnostics: Choose whether to share anonymous data usage with Google to help improve the service.
- Restart: Here you can reboot your PLEIO. This is the first thing to try when troubleshooting minor issues.
